Data Protection, Privacy and Freedom of Information

Data protection and privacy obligations apply to an extremely wide variety of activities in the life sciences sector. We advise clients in relation to these obligations in relation to reproductive health, biorepositories, clinical trials and sample collection. We have also advised extensively on the implications of the draft EU Data Protection Regulation for biomedical research and are actively involved in negotiations of the new Regulation.

We work with clients both to help them keep data private, and to seek to obtain publicly held information. Please contact us to discuss any queries you have regarding Freedom of Information and Data Protection legislation.

We are also able to advise on the confidentiality provisions which apply within regulatory frameworks, and on patient confidentiality in a clinical and research context.
